4 Tips in Choosing Your Web Host Provider

                                                                     By: Tony Sanford

In this fast paced world of growing ideas, business markets, and people just wanting an arena where their self expression can be seen, the Internet has proven to be an ideal place to reach millions of willing and eager people to look in on and inspect any and all types of ideas, businesses offers, and personal expression being displayed by others. It is now possible for anyone to construct their own piece of virtual real estate by creating their very own website. The technology of web construction has improved so much that with the use of templates, web site creation is as simple as 1-2-3.Once you have your website you will need a way to have it seen on the Internet. Web hosting companies are here for the main purpose of providing the products an services you will need to bring your website to life by giving it the ability to be seen and accessed by millions of Internet users all over the world by means of the world wide web.

The Important thing to do now is to choose a web host that will suit your particular needs. This can be a daunting task, you will find that there are many different web host to choose from, some will be better equipped to handle your website needs than others. You will also notice that the cost of use for these different host vary by as much as free use to hundreds of dollars a month. This is why you will want to do some? careful research and planning to make sure that the host you choose will be adequate to handle your personal website needs. We will examine some of the different options available to help you? make the proper choice for you.

1. Disk Space

One of the first things you will want to consider is disk space. what is disk space? This is the amount of storage space you will need to contain all of the files needed to support your website. these may include but are not limited to; graphics, images, blog, scripts, HTML files etc. How much disk space will you need? The fewer pages your website has the less MB of disk space is required, the more pages and content that your website contains such as down loadable files, image files, video files, and music files, the more disk space will be needed, for instance 1 MB of disk space will allow you maybe a couple of web pages, while 100 MB would increase that amount to around 500 web pages, which would maybe support a few graphic images depending on their size and a few pages of text. If you are planning to use your website for the purpose of displaying video, graphics, music and lots of text content it would be advisable for you to acquire larger amounts of disk space.?

2.Bandwidth

We will next be concerned the amount of bandwidth you will need. Bandwidth is the amount information that moves to and from your web hosting account. This may include such things as sending and receiving e-mail,page usage and access by others,FTP request etc. Your web host provider will more likely than not have a set amount of bandwidth allotted to your account per month. if you exceed your bandwidth your site is liable to go offline. The set amount per month of bandwidth per month would in average be from 3 GB to 200 GB for the larger informational and business oriented sites.

The amount of bandwidth you will need Will depend on more than one thing, you will need to know or at least estimate the amount of traffic that you will expect at your website. Are you planning on using web content including, video, graphic images etc? Will you have down loadable files, software, or videos? If so you should plan on using a lot more band width even if your website traffic is expected not to be very high.

How will you figure out how much bandwidth you will require? Here is A rule of thumb, first figure out down loadable content you will be using then multiply that by the number of visitors you expect to receive each month, you will add to that the estimated amount of e-mail that you will send and receive, also if you have any files or information transfers lets say file? uploads by FTP. This may sound like a lot to do at first glance, once you begin the process you will find it is simple enough.

The number you end up with will be a very close estimate of how much bandwidth you will need with room for flexibility included.

3. Cost

As I stated before the cost of web hosting companies will vary. There are free providers as well as those costing hundreds per month. Then, why should you pay for something you can get for free? Remember "all that glitters is not gold". Do you also recall me stating earlier that some web hosting providers are better than others for your particular needs? Free web hosting providers may not offer you the same quality of product or service as one that will charge you a fee. They are sure to make their money? by your account in other ways. For instance some but not all may require you to allow them to include and show advertisements of their choosing on your website in which you will more than likely have little or no control. They may also regulate the type and amount of content that you can show on your site, you may be limited to the kinds of products or services you will be able to offer. While there are free web hosting providers that will deliver a good quality service, I recommend that you always make sure of what you will be getting before using a free service.

Personally, I feel that having control of my website is very important, I am sure you will also.If you decide that control of your site is of great importance to you then be prepared to pay at least a nominal fee for the? services offered by your web

hosting provider, however don't be fooled into believing that high cost automatically means high quality, like most things you purchase you should shop around a bit to make sure you are getting the most for your money. what you are ultimately looking for is reliability, and the providing of a product and service that is able to satisfy your web hosting needs. If you should find a provider than can deliver what you need for $2 per month then by all means use this service, if what your looking for has a fee of $50-$60-$70 per month, if this provider can serve your particular needs then that is OK too! the more the monthly cost, the more technical services you should receive.Be careful not to trade a smaller fee for a higher one that is less reliable in the service they provide. You will want to use a web hosting company that will keep your site up and running 100% of the time, with little to no internal server problems that would affect your website.

4. Support

Last but not least I want you to consider the reputation of the web host providers customer support department. In the best of situations problems with billing or technical issues will arise, you want to be sure that your provider will be able to resolve any problem that may come up in a quick and courteous manner. you can check this out by finding out what others have to say by means of existing testimonials.

I hope that the information here will be helpful to you in successfully locating a quality home for your website
